MakeitStranger – type generator

Not so much an app as just an awesome way to make a banner, Twitter header – Facebook Post, anything really, more scary and nostalgic with the Stranger Things title generator, Make It Stranger. Dusty motes float in the background, evoking the dark and mysterious look of the Upside Down world from the series. The logo pops up, just slightly fuzzy, like you’re watching it on a VHS tape. There are some limitations. It doesn’t handle spaces between words and it seems to get hung up on special characters. You’re not going to pull off a whole sentence, but that’s not the point. This is about taking your name or your business and making it look like it could grace the opening sequence to a delightfully creepy Netflix series. Mission accomplished!

For Free Fun with Photos:

My new favorite app for not too gross and slightly sexy Halloween selfies is the free Photo Lab app (iOS and Android). I’ve been playing around with it all morning and wow, it’s packed with photo fun generating – awesomeness. It has more than 800 awesome effects for your photos, and it’s super simple to use. There’s No need for adjusting: just choose an effect or a frame, then select a photo from Camera Roll (or take a new photo with your phone camera) and ta-da!..you get a unique photo montage or collage! The app also has a built-in photo editor with every basic tool you may need: crop, rotate, adjust colors, lighting and sharpness, and even touch-up. Here are three photos that I just made in the last five minutes.

Social Media Goes All-In

Snapchat

Snapchat has a Halloween makeover. New bitmoji costumes – including a witch, black cat, and pirate – are available in Snap and Bitmoji, along with a dozen new Halloween Stickers. The Emoji Brush also has some fun themed items – just tap the doodle tool, then tap the new emoji icon to kick off the fun.

Also – new today – a Halloween Snap Map! Open it up to see Zombie walkers near your, alongside trick-or-treaters – and if you’re driving around town – notice you’re riding on a broomstick. That’s right witches, today also unlocked some super awesome lenses and filters, so be sure to check in and pick your favorite before the evening’s festivities kick off!

Facebook and Instagram:

Facebook also added a handful of Halloween-themed backgrounds as options. If you want to go Live on Facebook, the app also has a number of masks you can use to freakify your face. These include a virtual vampire mask (that covers your face like a real-life mask would), and a bride of Frankenstein hairdo you can wear with a black and white filter, for that old-school Hollywood horror movie feel.

Instagram also added new face filters and stickers in time for Halloween.

The new Superzoom feature lives inside the camera on the Instagram app. You can access it by swiping along the bottom of the screen among the camera options. Just press and hold the shutter button. The camera will automatically zoom in, complete with dramatic sound effects. Superzoom works on both the rear and front-facing cameras. Superzoom arrives in time for Halloween, along with creepy new face filters — including a vampire and a zombie — and festive stickers. The new features are available now for iOS and Android devices.
