Giving your friends a glimpse into your day via Instagram is just part of everyday life, but if you’re anything like me, you might go back over your pics later on and realize some of might not have been worth uploading. Hey, it’s all good. Normally you’d have to make the tough decision between keeping it on Instagram for all to see or deleting it and losing the moment forever, but Instagram just launched a fancy new feature built for those of us who are a bit more indecisive about our shares and deletes. It’s simply called “Archive,” and here’s how it works.

First, you need to find a pic that you want to remove from your public gallery. Maybe it’s a photo with an ex, or a private moment with a friend that you felt like sharing at the time, but now realize it’s best kept private. Simply tap the little three-dot “…” menu icon on the top right of the image and then select Archive.

When you archive a photo, it is deleted from your public gallery, but you can still check it out! From your profile page, tap the little rewind clock icon in the upper right of the screen.

That’s the Archive button, and it takes you to a gallery full of all of your archived posts. You can view them and enjoy them privately, and if you decide to want to reshare them later, just go to that same menu and tap “Show on Profile” to put it right back in your public gallery where it was before.

It’s a handy little tool that gives you a lot more freedom to post, remove, and repost at will, without having to actually delete and re-upload.
